Play Now - TV on demand
Development and implementation of the Internet TV (OTT) for PLAY NOW - a set of mobile applications (Android, iOS), own launcher for STB hardware platforms produced by SagemComm and SDMC (along with integrations with partners such as Netflix, HBO, Amazon, and with the DVB-T/C tuner), applications for TVs and TV set-top-boxes (AndroidTV, AppleTV). In addition, we integrated Google Assistant, Play Integrity API, Mux and created backoffice service to supervise the video streaming.
The PLAY NOW supports 4k@60fps video content, tunnelling, multi-key DRM for hundreds of thousands of users every day.

Project Story
N7 Mobile has been working closely with the PLAY network operator for over 10 years on mobile projects serving millions of users every day. Thanks to the quality of the services offered, we were invited to create a new version of the Android and iOS mobile applications for the PLAY NOW website.
The quality of the both apps that we have made has been appreciated primarily by end users, and the dynamic development of the PLAY NOW platform has paid off in the form of the next platforms - such as our own launcher for STB devices, or applications for AndroidTV and AppleTV.

Unified UI
One of our tasks was to create UI designs for phones and tablets (Android devices, iPhone / iPad), as well as designing the appearance of the application for TV devices (AppleTV).
We worked in accordance with the Design System idea, defining components, colours and common behaviours between individual platforms, using Figma and Adobe XD tools.
Television For Everyone
We support the entire set of screen sizes, with UI and navigation adapted to the given device. Starting from phones, through tablets, and ending with dozen-inch devices operated with a remote control.

Challenges
Creating a project like PLAY NOW turned out to be an interesting achievement - we created applications for multiple platforms and integrated with an exceptionally large number of internal and external partners.
Playback Features
PLAY NOW offers the possibility of watching programs up to 7 days back, as well as Timeshift, bEPG or watching Live programs from the beginning. It is also possible to record in the cloud, set reminders and check the Electronic Program Guide.
Follow Me Content
Ability to start watching a video on one platform and then seamlessly continue watching it on the another one. This is further reinforced by automatic login on mobile and STB.
SVODs + TVODs
PLAY NOW supports a wide range of content, including both Subscription Content (SVOD) and Movie Rentals (TVOD). The purchase of products is possible directly via payments by PLAY.
What We Achieved
We have created a product that can compete with applications such as Netflix, HBO MAX or Disney+ - it offers the ability to run on virtually any screen anywhere, is highly optimized (which makes it work really fast) and has a competitive set of features. And all this with high user satisfaction confirmed by both in-store ratings and market research conducted by PLAY.
